Phil and I have been the best of friends since 10th grade in high school. I am proud to say I was the best man in his wedding. Phil is one of those guys that will drop anything to help you out at any time. He seems to pride himself with helping others out with no strings attached. He sets the bar when it comes to friendship loyalty and commitment. But beyond all of this, he is one of the best fishermen I know. He consistently produces big catches all year long and has had many large muskies landed in his boat. However, I do believe he has just landed his longest with me.

Phil’s 50inch musky hit a surface type lure in the early part of the morning. We were fishing a Ramsey county lake. We had several fish move onto a weed bar that extended all the way into the deepest water. I had a large musky crush my bait and miss it. Then, we saw two other muskies surface like dolphins for some minnows they were chasing out toward the end of the spot. Phil then bombed a long cast out to the end of the bar where his trophy hit. Since he had such a long cast, he had an incredibly long fight on his hands. It was very entertaining. Phil was very excited to learn it was 50 inches long.
