Although Chuck Mass won’t be celebrating his 62nd birthday until this coming 4th of July, he received his first birthday gift early. The Tiger Musky topped Chuck’s previous personal best fish, which was a 9lb 8oz bass he landed down south on a rapala. I had the great pleasure of fishing with Chuck and his brother Mike. Chuck is from Chandler Arizona and he runs a homeless shelter in the city of Phoenix. Both of these guys were such a joy to fish with. I remember noting to myself several times throughout the day just how much fun I was having with them. Chuck and Mike kept me laughing throughout the day with their jokes and stories while I searched out the muskies for them. Often, I was laughing so much that I mistakenly trolled them right into the weeds. If all guests of mine were as nice and fun as these two guys I think I would have the ultimate fishing job.

Chuck’s Tiger Musky was very thick. The fish slammed a 200 series SPOONPLUG at about 9am. He caught the fish just outside of the boat launch near the first point on the lake. The fish was in 12 feet of water just outside of the weeds. Chuck also caught an 8lb northern pike and Mike added a spotted musky just before we left. This day was extra special to me too because my favorite fish (the TIGER MUSKY) was caught. Congratulations to Chuck on a great catch.
