The Griz

I first met the Griz when I was 13 years old. He immediately impressed me as a kid. Even though he is about the most popular fisherman in the state, he always seemed to find time for me as I was growing up. Now that I own Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle, Griz hangs out at the shop and guides out of the shop. He generally takes all the bass and walleye trips while I handle all the muskie and northern trips. We compliment each other well. He has become a very valuable asset to the business. Plus, we have become very good friends.

Griz caught this fish in about 15 feet of water. He caught it on a 1/4 oz fireball jig tipped with a fathead minnow. He caught it on his first cast. I was pumped to net it for him. We went on to catch several more walleyes and lots of white bass. I had a great time (as I always do) fishing with the Griz. His stories alone are enough entertainment to sit in a boat all day with him. If you ever want to catch a Griz story he generally shares them on a nightly basis at Blue Ribbon.
